Kate Upton Clarifies Disturbing Post She Made On Social Media

Kate Upton clarified that a previous Instagram post about a "drunk and high" dad was not about her husband, MLB pitcher Justin Verlander.
Last month, Upton asked for legal advice about a "scary emergency situation." She said a dad recently out of rehab was traveling with his 10-year-old daughter when he claimed to have a gun and threatened to shoot the taxi driver unless they dropped off the child alongside a highway at midnight. The driver refused.
On Monday, Upton explained that she's seeking support for her niece. The model addressed concerned fans who mistakenly thought she was referring to Verlander.
"To clarify: we do not have a 10-year-old. Our daughter is 6, and Justin would never put her in such a terrifying or life-threatening situation," Upton wrote in an Instagram Stories message (h/t Us Weekly). "He is a wonderful father whose unwavering priority is ensuring our daughter is safe, loved, and protected every single day."
In a follow-up post, Upton discussed the frustrating and difficult legal circumstances.
"Navigating this situation to protect my niece has been so challenging, especially knowing that her safety is ultimately in the hands of professionals in Brevard," she wrote. "The legal system can be so complex and, in my opinion, has raised alarming questions about whether the priority is protecting a father's privacy and privilege over the well-being of innocent children."
Upton said she, her sister, and Verlander "are doing everything we can to protect" the child.
"My niece inspires me daily with her bravery and resilience after facing a situation no child should endure," she wrote in a third post. "To everyone who has supported us, thank you. Please keep her in your thoughts and continue to advocate for justice for children who cannot protect themselves."
