Joy Taylor Takes Side In The Dallas Cowboys, Mike McCarthy Debate

The NFL world is still waiting for a resolution between Mike McCarthy and the Dallas Cowboys.
Dallas has yet to offer a new deal to McCarthy, who completed his final season under contract. Even if the Cowboys want him back, the head coach won't necessarily return. The Chicago Bears reportedly requested an interview with the 61-year-old.
Joy Taylor appeared on Monday's Speak a day after Front Office Sports published a lawsuit from a former Fox Sports employee who named her a defendant. The FS1 host conducted business as usual by discussing the Cowboys' coaching situation.
Taylor believes the Cowboys would be making a "mistake" by not bringing back McCarthy.
"I don't think that there's a better candidate out there," Taylor said. "And if you have other teams with a young developing quarterback in Caleb Williams and the Bears who are sniffing around your guy, that might tell you a thing or two about the value that the rest of the league sees in him."
However, Taylor wondered if McCarthy may want to leave Dallas for an organization that draws less outside expectations without constant interference from owner and general manager Jerry Jones.
While winning in Dallas may do more for his legacy, Taylor noted that McCarthy already earned a Super Bowl with the Green Bay Packers in 2011.
"Dusty or not, I got one of those things," Taylor said of McCarthy's Super Bowl ring. "And maybe, at this point in my life, I want to do like Andy [Reid] and put a nice little shirt on, a Hawaiian shirt, and kick it in Jacksonville."
According to ESPN's Todd Archer, McCarthy and Jones are scheduled to meet this week. The head coach said he "absolutely" wants to stay in Dallas.
"I'm a builder. I believe in building programs," McCarthy said following Sunday's Week 18 loss to the Washington Commanders. "I believe in developing young players. So, at the end of day, it is about winning, and you have to have those components in place to get this thing where it needs to be. I think we have a very good foundation here."
