Saturday's news of Rickey Henderson's passing led to a lot of heavy hearts around the MLB community.
Among those was former Oakland A's star Jose Canseco — who spent five seasons as Henderson's teammate after the 10-time All-Star returned from the Yankees.
Taking to social media over the weekend, the former MVP issued a statement on what Henderson meant to his career.
"I'm heartbroken and devastated," Canseco shared to his X account. "Rickey Henderson was an incredibly talented player but an even better human. I'll never forget all the incredible memories we created together. Memories I'll never forget. Rest easy my friend."

Henderson died at the age of 65 after 25 years in the bigs where he left his mark as one of the game's most exciting players and the greatest base stealer of all-time.
MLB commissioner Rob Manfred also released a statement on Henderson's death.
"Rickey epitomized speed, power and entertainment in setting the tone at the top of the lineup. When we considered new rules for the game in recent years, we had the era of Rickey Henderson in mind," Manfred said. "Rickey earned universal respect, admiration and awe from sports fans. On behalf of Major League Baseball, I send my deepest condolences to Rickey's family, his friends and former teammates, A's fans and baseball fans everywhere."
It's hard to overstate the electricity and showmanship that Rickey brought to the game. But all that style was matched with a ton of substance as well.
RIP to one of the greatest of the greats. Safe travels to the "Man of Steal."
