Donald Trump's Lawyer Is Turning Heads (1:31)

Donald Trump wants to make Canada the 51st state.

The president elect turned heads with his post on Truth Social on Tuesday. Trump, who is set to take office in late January, wants to make Canada the 51st state in America.

"Many people in Canada LOVE being the 51st State. The United States can no longer suffer the massive Trade Deficits and Subsidies that Canada needs to stay afloat. Justin Trudeau knew this, and resigned. If Canada merged with the U.S., there would be no Tariffs, taxes would go way down, and they would be TOTALLY SECURE from the threat of the Russian and Chinese Ships that are constantly surrounding them. Together, what a great Nation it would be!!!" he wrote on Truth Social.

Joe Rogan, who voted for Donald Trump in 2024, had a simple reaction to the suggestion.

"I say we let Mexico in too," he wrote on his Instagram page on Tuesday night.

Trump took a shot at outgoing Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, as well.

Canada, meanwhile, is now recruiting three U.S. states to leave the country.

Canadian Green Party leader Elizabeth May believes that three prominent U.S. states would benefit from breaking off from the rest of the United States.

"Hey, Donald, have we got a deal for you? You think we want to be the 51st state huh? But maybe California would like to be the 11th province. How about it? California? Oregon? Washington?"

She put forth her best recruiting pitch, as well.

"This is what you get: free health care. Universal free health care. No more 1-year-olds who suddenly fall off the Medicaid list and their parents are in the news because they're trying to do a GoFundMe so they can get their daughter to a doctor. Universal Free health care. Guess what? Those gun laws that your Congress is too afraid to pass because of the national gun lobby. We already got our strict gun laws."
