Jerry Jones Responds To Getting Compared To President Joe Biden

The Dallas Cowboys are in the middle of an extremely frustrating 2024 season, and for many fans of the team, all signs point to the direction of owner and general manager Jerry Jones.
Jones promised that the Cowboys would go "all-in" during the offseason, but after failing to make any significant moves and not producing a star from the 2024 draft class, many supporters are losing patience with Jones' philosophy for the team.
ESPN's Stephen A. Smith is not a Cowboys fan, but he is a friend of Jerry Jones'. The longtime journalist and sports media personality recently expressed concern for the owner's mental faculties.
"I'm getting very very worried about Jerry Jones... I find myself thinking about Joe Biden before he backed out of running for reelection," Smith said on ESPN's "First Take" this week.
"I think Jerry's one month older than President Joe Biden for crying out loud…where the hell are his family members?"
During an appearance on 105.3 The Fan, Jones brushed Smith's concerns aside as an attempt at humor.
"Stephen A. is a fraud in a positive sense and I'm smiling. We are friends," the longtime owner said.
"And I am having huge support and huge input and help from everyone he mentioned in that call about stepping in. But I would say if he had asked me that question relative to the issue or the criticism that Biden had about his ability to function, I wish he would follow me around every day. And he would see that I'm the busiest I've ever been in my life."
Jones added that he just completed a 14-hour trip to New York on Cowboys business, saying "I'm not concerned about the ability to do the work, to do the job."
"Stephen A. – and I'd love to have him just sit beside us for a day and make the rounds and have him listen to me field the calls and do the kinds of things we do and he wouldn't be worried about me there. But I do appreciate his concern. And by the way, it is genuine," Jones said.
Whether Jones is too old for the job or not, it is nice to see a rare moment of compassion and concern from Smith - even if it is being used to criticize his least favorite NFL team.
