The Pittsburgh Steelers' most recent playoff loss has many believing that head coach Mike Tomlin no longer has what it takes to win a Super Bowl. But one analyst believes that a blockbuster trade could get them to the promised land, with or without Tomlin.

On Thursday's edition of The Herd with Colin Cowherd, mused about the Steelers quarterback situation. But after addressing a rumor that New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers or Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold might be a good fit for the Steelers, Cowherd took the conversation in a different direction.

Cowherd said that the move the Steelers need to make is a trade to land Colorado quarterback and likely top-five pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Shedeur Sanders. He believes that the Steelers would likely need to trade a king's ransom to the likes

"I would trade T.J. Watt, George Pickens, two first rounders and go get Shedeur Sanders if you think he's a starting QB,"

This is hardly the first time that Cowherd has made a trade suggestion involving an elite defensive player. Cowherd has stated on many occasions that he believes even the best defensive players don't have anywhere near the value that an elite quarterback does.

But proposing that the Steelers trade their biggest defensive star hits a little different from a team that finished below .500 doing the same.

Fans in the comments made sure to remind Colin of how absurd the notion is:

"That by far is the most idiotic statements you've ever made," one user replied, adding five clown emojis.

"This ain't Andrew Luck. This ain't Elway. Only 3 or 4 players in NFL history are worth a haul like that and Shedeur ain't one of them," wrote another.

"And he wants to be a gm in the nfl, he'll give up the house for a ham sandwich," a third declared.

Cowherd may have the right idea about trading up to land the ideal franchise quarterback, as many teams have done through the years with varying degrees of success.

But fans appear largely mixed on whether Shedeur Sanders is a franchise quarterback in the same vein as a Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson or Justin Herbert.

Nevertheless, if the scouting report comes back on Sanders saying that he's the best thing since sliced bread, the team could feel compelled to make a move.

Just maybe not that one...
