
High School Basketball Star Dead Suddenly At 19 Years Old

A standout high school basketball player has reportedly died suddenly at 19 years old this week.
One of the best players on the Gaynor McCown Expeditionary Learning School in New Springville, New York has died suddenly. He was just 19 years old.
Marcus Nuamah, a senior and team captain of the boys basketball team, died on Wednesday. His tragic death was announced as part of a GoFundMe.
"Our beloved, Marcus Nuamah, passed away on March 19, 2025. Marcus was a high school senior who attended Gaynor McCown High School and played varsity basketball for three seasons and was the captain of the school's team. Marcus was deeply loved by his family and school community. We are heartbroken and grieving and are coming together as a community to mourn and show our love and support," his family announced.

Danny Lee, coach of the CSI/McCown varsity basketball team, is shocked by the loss.
"I'm at a complete loss for words... I Love You Marcus, you meant so much to everyone you touched in this life! Rest in Peace, until we meet again," Lee wrote on Instagram.
New York City Department of Education Chancellor Melissa Aviles-Ramos also released a statement. Cris counselors were sent into the school.
"We are heartbroken for this young person's family, friends, and school community after this devastating loss," she said. "We have deployed crisis counselors to the school community to support students and staff as they grieve."
