Heisman Contender Ashton Jeanty Appeared To Be Injured On Play

The top running back in the country appears to have suffered an injury and it did not look pretty.
During the third quarter of today's game between Boise State and Wyoming, Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty - who had just gone over 2,000 rushing yards on the season a few plays prior - appeared to be injured after being tackled by a Wyoming player. Video of his going to the ground seems to show that he was in a lot of pain and he had to be taken to the medical tent for an evaluation.
As of writing, there's no word on the extent of Jeanty's apparent injury.

Jeanty has been a top-three contender for the Heisman Trophy all season with his main opposition being Colorado's star cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter and various quarterbacks. Through this game against Wyoming he has over 2,000 rushing yards, 27 touchdowns and over 7.5 yards per carry an average of over 180 yards per game.
He is around 600 yards shy of breaking the legendary Barry Sanders' single season rushing record of 2,628 yards and potentially has as many as three or more games to make it happen depending if the Broncos can keep winning.
However, Hunter is still seen as the overwhelming favorite to win the prestigious award, with the sports books further improving his odds of taking home the trophy.
If Jeanty can finish the season strong and even come close to breaking Barry's record before the Heisman votes are cast, he could give Hunter a run for his money.
But if Jeanty suffers even one injury that limits his effectiveness or availability, his Heisman case could be closed as early as tonight.
We'll keep you informed of any updates.
The Boise State-Wyoming game is being played on CBS Sports.
