Giants Expected To Start 3rd Different Quarterback This Season
Today at 01:16 PM
In a little over a week the New York Giants will have made not one, but two quarterback changes just before Thanksgiving.
According to ESPN Giants insider Jordan Raanan, it is now a "longshot" that starting quarterback Tommy DeVito will start tomorrow's Thanksgiving Day game against the Dallas Cowboys. DeVito is battling a forearm injury and has been limited in practice since Sunday's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It is now expected that journeyman Drew Lock will get the starting nod in Dallas tomorrow.
"It's a longshot that QB Tommy DeVito will be able to play Thursday vs. Cowboys, per source. That puts Drew Lock in line for a start. The Giants say DeVito is undergoing further evaluation. #Giants#Cowboys," Raanan reported on Wednesday.

The Giants benched and then released starting quarterback Daniel Jones last week. They promoted DeVito to the starter, hoping that he would build off of the momentum that he built with the team in his six games as a starter last year, which included some impressive showings against the Washington Commanders, New England Patriots and Green Bay Packers.
But the momentum has yet to follow DeVito into the 2024 season. In his start against the Bucs this past week he threw for 189 yards and an interception. The Giants could not even put points on the board until the fourth quarter.
The 2024 season is already lost for the Giants. There's nobody worth evaluating that isn't already on the roster or off the roster next year barring a total regime change. And that's hardly off the table right now.
But at the very least Drew Lock can treat tomorrow's game as an audition for his next team. He's 9-14 as a starter with 28 touchdowns, 23 interceptions and a career completion rate of 59.5-percent.
Crazy stuff has been known to happen on Thanksgiving though and at the very least the Giants can try to go crazy on the Cowboys tomorrow.
