After a great college career that saw her win a national championship at South Carolina, guard Brea Beal was selected by the Minnesota Lynx in the second round of the 2023 WNBA Draft.

Beal was waived by the Lynx before the start of the season, but she got a second chance in 2024 when the two-time defending champion Las Vegas Aces added her to their training camp roster.

With only one day before the WNBA preseason gets underway, Beal shared the unfortunate news that she was once again waived, this time by the Aces.

"It was amazing to be apart of a championship atmosphere and I am thankful for the opportunity!," said the former SEC All-Defensive team member and McDonald's All-American.

"I am still in great spirits and look forward to the next chapter in my life!"

Beal was a starter and key piece on the 2022 South Carolina team that won the national championship.

She joined a loaded roster filled with five-star recruits and future WNBA talent to go 35-2, winning the title in dominant fashion over UConn.

The 2022 championship was the second for head coach Dawn Staley at South Carolina, and she etched her name into the history books with an undefeated season in 2024.

Raven Johnson, Bree Hall and Kamilla Cardoso were among the players to play on both title-winning teams, establishing the Gamecocks as the premier program in women's basketball.

We'll see what the future holds for Beal, as she proved to be one of the best defenders in all of college basketball during her time at South Carolina.

She hasn't been able to carve a space for herself in the WNBA just yet, but hopefully another opportunity will come her way soon.
