Dennis Allen may find himself back on the sidelines for the 2025 NFL season. Although a deal hasn't been finalized at this time, the former head coach of the New Orleans Saints is receiving interest from other teams.

Allen was the head coach of the Saints from 2022-2024. After going 9-8 last season, New Orleans gave him one more chance to right the ship. He intially showed promise, leading the franchise to a 2-0 start. Unfortunately for Allen, it was all downhill from there. The defensive-minded coach went on a seven-game losing streak before getting fired in early November. Despite how things ended, he released a classy statement about his time in the Big Easy.

"I am proud to have worked alongside some great coaches, both as an assistant and during my time as the head coach," Allen said. "To these men, I am sincerely grateful for the time and effort they put into their jobs. I am also grateful for the entire staff that worked hard to provide the support and will miss our daily interactions."

Though the past few months haven't been easy for Allen, it sounds like he's close to landing on his feet.

According to NFL insider Albert Breer, the Indianapolis Colts are interviewing Allen this Friday for their vacancy at defensive coordinator. He's not the only prominent candidate being considered by the Colts. Lou Anarumo, Wink Martindale and Steve Wilks have interviewed for the job.

Allen had a ton of success coaching the Saints defense from 2015-2021. That's why he was named the team's head coach after Sean Payton's departure.

While the days of Allen being a head coach in the NFL are over, there's no question he's viewed as an intriguing option for teams in need of a defensive coordinator.

"Allen is expected to be a prime candidate for other opportunities due to his work with New Orleans," ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler said.

We'll see if the Colts can strike a deal with Allen in the coming days. They're probably not the only team considering him for a job this offseason.
