Former NFL Coach Jack Del Rio Lands Head Coaching Position

Former Jacksonville Jaguars and Oakland Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio will once again be in charge of a football team. However, he won't be coaching in the NFL.
On Friday morning, ESPN's Adam Schefter announced that Del Rio will be the next head coach of the Paris Musketeers. The franchise has been part of the European League of Football since 2022. An official announcement hasn't been made yet, but this would be quite the hire.
Last season, the Musketeers lost in the semifinals of the playoffs. Clearly, they felt like they needed an upgrade at coach in order to become champions of the European League of Football.
Del Rio, 61, will bring a ton of coaching experience to Paris. Over the course of his career, he has won a Super Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens, led the Jaguars to the playoffs twice, and even revitalized the Raiders when they were at their lowest point.
Even though Del Rio hasn't been an NFL head coach since 2017, he's been active. From 2020-2023, he was the defensive coordinator for the Washington Commanders. He was then named a senior advisor for Wisconsin's football team in 2024.
Back in November, the Badgers announced that Del Rio resigned from his position. This came after he was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
"I'm grateful to Coach Fickell and the University of Wisconsin for the opportunity to work with such a talented coaching and support staff and some of the best young football players in the country," Del Rio said in a statement. "I have decided to step away from my position with the team, so they can focus all their attention on the remainder of the season."
We'll see if Del Rio can revitalize his coaching career in the European League of Football.
