Former Jets Coach Robert Saleh Interviewing For New Job
Yesterday at 12:12 PM
The New York Jets fired head coach Robert Saleh after a disappointing start to the season. Saleh failed to truly find positive momentum in New York, and missed the playoffs in all three of his full seasons at the helm.
Despite the lack of team success, Saleh was able to build a defense of promising young talent that he often got the best out of, similar to what he was able to do as a defensive coordinator for the San Francisco Giants.
Saleh's first foray into head coaching may not have gone to plan, but he's still under considerations for other jobs as the NFL's offseason begins.
Saleh is on the Jacksonville Jaguars' head coaching interview list, joining other names like Ben Johnson, Kellen Moore, Todd Monken, Joe Brady and Aaron Glenn.

Saleh will be evaluated for the position along with several of the top assistants and coordinators from around the league. Johnson and Glenn have received great praise for their work with the Detroit Lions, while Monken could be the driving force behind back-to-back MVPs for Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.
The Jaguars could opt to choose a more offensive-minded coach, as they'll likely look to get the most out of former No. 1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence.
Lawrence signed a huge new contract this offseason to join the list of the league's highest-paid players, but his 2024 season was cut short after a massive hit from Azeez Al-Shaair of the Houston Texans.
Saleh would bring years of NFL experience to any team that hires him, beginning his NFL coaching career 20 years ago with the Houston Texans. He's spent time with the Jaguars in the past, working as a linebackers coach from 2014 through 2016.
Saleh - or any other coach the Jaguars hire - would replace former Super Bowl winner Doug Pederson. Pederson was fired after the Jaguars finished the season with a 4-13 record, earning one of the league's worst records yet again.
The Jaguars will look to regroup after another disappointing season, and we'll see fi they decide to do so with Robert Saleh or with another top head coaching candidate from their recent crop of interviews.
