Florida State Fires Three Coaches After 1-9 Start

Florida State's football program has fired three coaches on Sunday evening, but head coach Mike Norvell remains safe.
The Seminoles, who went undefeated in the regular season last year, are 1-9 on the season in 2024. Florida State was blown out by Notre Dame, 52-3, in South Bend, Indiana on Saturday. The Seminoles, who brought in transfer quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei this offseason, have been one of the worst teams in the country. Many have been frustrated by the job done by Norvell, though he's not going to be ousted - yet, anyway.
Florida State has decided to fire three coaches from the staff on Sunday evening.
Florida State announced that offensive coordinator Alex Atkins, defensive coordinator Adam Fuller and wide receivers coach Ron Dugans have been fired on Sunday. Norvell announced the decision.
"I appreciate the work these three men have provided over the last five years with me at Florida State," Norvell said. "They are all great men with families who also have poured into our program. We had many great moments together here, and I have never doubted their passion for our players and for Florida State.
"Unfortunately, we have not upheld the Florida State standard with our results on the field this season. I did not make any of these decisions lightly, but I felt changes needed to be made to elevate our program back to where we all desire it to be."
It's something, but probably not what Florida State fans are hoping for. The Seminoles are going to need to see results on the field, not moves from their head coach and his staff.
Florida State, whose lone win of the year came against Cal in ACC play, will finish the regular season against Charleston Southern and Florida.
Can the Seminoles manage one win to finish the year?
