The FBI continues to investigate the horrific terror attack that occurred in New Orleans in the early morning of New Year's Day.

On Wednesday morning, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old U.S. Army veteran, plowed his truck into a crowd of partiers on Bourbon Street. Jabbar killed 14 people and injured dozens of others in the attack. After exiting his vehicle and firing on responding police officers, he was killed in a firefight. An ISIS flag was found attached to Jabbar's truck, with weapons and explosives found inside.

At first, the FBI thought Jabbar had help in the heinous act, but said on Thursday they now believe he acted alone. Even still, investigators are looking for additional information on the native Texan.

In a press briefing earlier today, FBI Deputy Assistant Director Christopher Raia said bomb technicians recovered two IEDs placed at different intersections on Bourbon Street. Both were detonated safely.

FBI investigators arrive at the scene where the white Ford F-150 pickup truck that crashed into a work lift after allegedly driving into a crowd of New Year's revelers in the French Quarter of New Orleans, Louisiana, on January 1, 2025. At least 10 people were killed and 30 injured Wednesday when a vehicle plowed overnight into a New year's crowd in the heart of the thriving New Orleans tourist district, authorities in the southern US city said. "We did obtain surveillance footage showing Jabbar placing both devices where they were found. Two other items of interest were determined not to be IEDs," Raia said.

Tonight, the FBI released new surveillance photos showing Jabbar a little over an hour before he plowed into the group of innocent civilians. You can see them below.

"Newly released surveillance photos show Shamsud- Din Jabbar a little more than an hour before the deadly Bourbon Street attack. The #FBI is asking witnesses who passed him on the street or saw this blue ice chest containing an IED to contact us," the FBI New Orleans X/Twitter account said.

The FBI is also investigating the Las Vegas cybertruck explosion, which took place on Wednesday as well.

A Tesla cybertruck driven by a 37-year-old Colorado man named Matthew Livelsberger burst into flames outside the Trump International Hotel, with authorities saying Livelsberger shot himself before the explosive devices in the vehicle went off.

As of now, there is no known link between the two incidents, Raia said, but all leads are being looked into.
