Fans Weren't Impressed By Indiana Coach's College Football Playoff Message

Indiana finished the regular season 11-1, and was ranked ninth (seeded 10th) in the latest College Football Playoff rankings.
When the official 12-team bracket is unveiled on Sunday, the Hoosiers will be in the field. But that's not enough for head coach Curt Cignetti, who argued on CBS Sports before tonight's Big Ten Championship Game that his team deserves to host a first-round game.
"We lost to the second-ranked team on the road. Penn State lost to the fourth-ranked team at home. Texas lost to the fifth-ranked team at home. Boise lost to the seventh-ranked team. Notre Dame lost to Northern Illinois and SMU lost to an unranked team at the time they played them. So how are we not, right now, seeded for a home game?" Cignetti asked.
Cignetti has worked wonders in Bloomington and his first season at IU has been a Cinderella campaign for the program. However, many outsiders are not buying his reasoning for why the Hoosiers should be seeded somewhere from 5th to 8th.
"Your schedule is weak and haven't beat a top 10 team," one person responded.
"What was your best wins?" a Tennessee fan asked.
"You got curb stomped by the only good team you played," a third person chimed in.
"Probably cause you played one good team and got drubbed," said podcaster John Middlekauff.
"I can answer for you, you media seeking hog - you haven't beaten anyone that's relevant," a fifth person added.
To be fair, if you peruse the quote tweets, there are a lot of Indiana fans and even a few neutral observers agreeing with Cignetti, so it's not like his message has no support.
Still, it's going to fall on deaf ears. Indiana will be on the road in two weeks for the first round of the College Football Playoff, whether Cignetti agrees with it or not.
The 2024 College Football Playoff selection show will begin at noon ET tomorrow on ESPN.
