Meet The Wife Of Kirk Herbstreit (1:13)

Kirk Herbstreit's dogs have become football fixtures over the last few years.

First, it was Ben, one of Herbstreit's beloved golden retrievers, who stole fans' hearts during his appearances on ESPN's College GameDay and at NFL stadiums while his dad called games for Amazon Prime. When Ben passed away this fall following a bout with cancer, the football world came together to mourn his loss and offer support for Herbstreit.

Recently, Herbstreit has introduced Peter, his youngest golden retriever, to the country. Peter has stolen the show on GameDay trips, most recently at the SEC Championship Game earlier this month.

Tonight, he made his first NFL appearance, accompanying his father to SoFi Stadium for Broncos-Chargers on Thursday Night Football.

"Pete at Sofi for @NFLonPrime First @NFL field appearance for the kid!" Herbstreit wrote on X/Twitter.

NFL fans already love Pete just as much as their college football counterparts do.

"Looks like he's just as comfortable in the big time!" wrote one person.

"It's so hard to lose a beloved dog. Glad Pete is there for you," a second person said.

"Pete is perfectly happy, soaking up all of the intention and getting all of the belly rubs all of them," a third person chimed in.

"Oh my...look at Pete... lounging around like he's an old pro at game politics. He's got it down. What a great smile on him in that last pic," said a fourth commenter.

"Amazing Kirk - great game tonight too!!!" added a fifth.

It has been an entertaining game so far. The Broncos lead the Chargers 21-10 late in the second quarter, but Los Angeles is driving.

As for Herbsteit, we love seeing him happy with his pup. Following Ben's passing earlier this season, Herbstreit eulogized him beautifully on GameDay.

"Ben didn't care who you were. Everyone deserved his love. I think we can all learn from that at a time where everything seems to be aimed at dividing us," Herbstreit said. "What I experienced with Ben was that and so much. Dogs only flaws as species is they don't live long enough, but the warmth they give us never goes away, so neither will Ben."

You can watch Broncos-Chargers on Amazon Prime Video.
