Former Chicago Sky head coach Teresa Weatherspoon has found a new gig after her rather sudden firing this WNBA offseason. Now, fans have just one hope for the hoop tactician involving her former player, Angel Reese.

Weatherspoon is now heading to "Unrivaled"—the new 3-on-3 basketball league established by Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier—after being announced as one of the six head coaches for its inaugural season.

Reese, who is also joining the "Unrivaled" league as a player, was naturally ecstatic to see her former Sky coach land a new job. As Chicago fans would know, the 22-year-old forward has developed a strong bond with Weatherspoon despite their brief time together.

Weatherspoon was a big part of Reese's development with the Sky. The former LSU star played a huge role in Weatherspoon's system, allowing her to average 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game in 2024 while also being an All-Star.

Reese celebrated Weatherspoon's hiring on social media, posting "BOOMSHOCKLAKAAAAA" on X to express how hyped she was.

In the comment section of Reese's message, fans quickly shared their desire to see the two reunite in the "Unrivaled" league.

"That's what's up! Hopefully she'll be your coach in Unrivaled," a commenter wrote. Another one said, "I hope she your Coach."

"I would love to see y'all team up, and win the Unrivaled championship," a fan added.

A fourth supporter asked, "Reunited?"

For what it's worth, others believe that Reese had a role in bringing Weatherspoon to "Unrivaled." That being said, many assumption they would automatically be reunited in a team.

It remains to be seen if Weatherspoon will actually be able to coach Reese in the league, though. After all, while the coaches will be assigning players into each of the six clubs to keep the rosters balanced, they won't know who they'll be coaching until after the teams are set.

That being said, while it's possible for Weatherspoon to coach Reese again, there's also a good chance that they could end up playing against each other.

"Unrivaled" is set to tip off in January, so the wait to see if Reese will be able to play for Weatherspoon again shouldn't be long.
