Bob Huggins' tenure at West Virginia ended with the university parting ways with him after his arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol

That arrest also came after offensive comments during a radio show, leaving WVU with no choice but to end the relationship.

Huggins has been out of a job since the summer, but he is reportedly interested in taking a job with a team in need of a new head coach.

During a radio show, Huggins said that he would be interested in being the new head coach of the Louisville Cardinals.

"I would be really excited to be there. I would want to be and do what Coach (Denny) Crum did. I've always had a love for Louisville, believe it or not," Huggins said Wednesday in an appearance on Jerry Eaves Sports Radio.

"I love going to Louisville and playing. I love the fan base, the way they embrace the team, the way they embrace Louisville basketball."

After spending several seasons in the Conference-USA and the Big East with Cincinnati and West Virginia, Huggins is very familiar with the Louisville program.

Huggins said that he believes he can help the Cardinals out of a dark period, much like he did with the Bearcats when he arrived at Cincinnati in 1989.

"I think it's something that fits me perfectly. Much like Cincinnati did when I got to Cincinnati. I mean Cincinnati was in dire straits when I got there and the city of Cincinnati fell in love with what we did, the way we played, who we played," Huggins said.

We weren't afraid. We weren't afraid to play anybody. And I think the people that we brought in to Cincinnati to play were people that ended up being NBA All Stars and I think they appreciated the fact that we didn't hide from anybody...

I think that's the mentality that Louisville people would like to see."

Huggins may want to head to Louisville, but the Cardinals are reportedly already close to a deal with Charleston's Pat Kelsey, according to Jeff Goodman.

We'll see if Huggins is able to land another coaching job, or if his Hall of Fame career has come to an earlier end than he may have anticipated.
