Everyone's Debating If UConn Basketball Is Now A 'Blue Blood'

UConn ended their season on Monday night with a victory in the national championship, their second-straight title win and their sixth overall.

The Huskies were dominant all throughout the tournament - as they were in 2023 - leading to a great run for head coach Dan Hurley and several players who are likely to have futures in the NBA.

The title win puts UConn among some of the top programs in the sport. 

dAs Hurley gains prestige as a coach and the program puts more players in the league, fans are debating if UConn is a "blue blood" program.

Star center Donovan Clingan made his opinion clear after the game on Monday, saying emphatically that UConn is indeed a blue blood.

"UConn is THE blue blood," one fan said.

"From now on, UConn will tell you if you're a blue blood or not," another fan said.

"UConn was a blue blood before this title by the way… This simply quiets the noise," one fan added.

"Everyone knows I'm not a UConn guy but if they win tonight (and kinda even if they don't) it's time to dramatically rehink who qualifies as a blue blood in the year 2024," one fan said.

"It blows my mind that UConn has more National Championships than Duke and Kansas, and are tied with UNC, but there's still people saying they're not a Blue Blood," another fan added.

I've been pretty hesitant to say it for a number of reasons, but UConn is a blue blood," another fan claimed. 

"Kansas, Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina, UConn. Those 5, that's it. No debate."

"UConn is already a blue blood they're just underrated because football tried to kill the big east and overshadowed by the women team," one fan added.

We'll see if the Huskies can earn more respect on the national level after yet another national title, but they're once again the class of college basketball following their second national championship in as many years.
