The Philadelphia Eagles snuck some major news in just before the start of the 2024 NFL Draft on Thursday.

Philadelphia agreed to a three-year extension with star wide receiver A.J. Brown, worth $96 million, the highest-ever for the position, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

"He's now under contract thru 2029 & his total guarantee of $84M is also the highest," Rapoport said.

The news might surprise some, considering Brown was the subject of trade rumors during last season and earlier this offseason. Whatever tension may have existed clearly wasn't enough for the Eagles to want to part ways with the three-time Pro Bowler.

Brown himself had confirmed back in February that he still wanted to remain in Philadelphia.

"I understand it's a business, but I can tell y'all I want to be here. I want to be here. I love where I'm at," he said, via Eagles Nation.

Last fall, in his second season with the Eagles, Brown hauled in a career-high 106 receptions, good for 1,456 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. He's gone over 1,400 yards receiving in each of his first two years in Philadelphia.

Brown is now the second Eagles wideout to reup with the team this month, joining DeVonta Smith, who signed a three-year, $75 million extension.
