Donald Trump wants to add a 51st state to the United States of America.
The president elect, who is set to take office later this month, took to his social media platform, Truth Social, on Monday evening. The soon-to-be 47th President of the United States was reacting to the big news out of Canada on Monday. Justin Trudeau, Canada's Prime Minister, announced that he will be resigning.
"Every morning I've woken up as prime minister, I have been inspired by the resilience, generosity and the determination of Canadians," he told journalists on Monday. "I have fought for this country, for you."
Following the big news out of Canada, Trump took to Truth Social, where he proclaimed that he wants the country to become the 51st state of the United States.
Trump wants Canada to merge with the United States.
"Many people in Canada LOVE being the 51st State," he wrote on Truth Social.
"The United States can no longer suffer the massive Trade Deficits and Subsidies that Canada needs to stay afloat. Justin Trudeau knew this, and resigned. If Canada merged with the U.S., there would be no Tariffs, taxes would go way down, and they would be TOTALLY SECURE from the threat of the Russian and Chinese Ships that are constantly surrounding them. Together, what a great Nation it would be!!!"
Trump seems to have his eyes set on Greenland, too.
"I am hearing that the people of Greenland are 'MAGA.' My son, Don Jr, and various representatives, will be traveling there to visit some of the most magnificent areas and sights. Greenland is an incredible place, and the people will benefit tremendously if, and when, it becomes part of our Nation. We will protect it, and cherish it, from a very vicious outside World. MAKE GREENLAND GREAT AGAIN!" he wrote.
If the United States were to add a 51st state to the country, which country or territory should it be?
