Last month, former President and 2024 Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump attended the SEC showdown between Georgia and Alabama.

There's now a rumor circulating that Trump has a trip to an NFL game on the docket this coming weekend--and in a swing state no less. On Tuesday, right-wing commentator and former congressional candidate Laura Loomer wrote on X/Twitter that Trump will be at Acrisure Stadium for Sunday night's matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Jets.

"Hearing that President Trump will be attending the Pittsburgh Steelers game on Sunday in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania!" Loomer tweeted.

While Alabama is a lock to go red next month, Trump is still battling Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris to win Pennsylvania, so perhaps that's the impetus behind this move, assuming Loomer is accurate.

Trump has a checkered history with the NFL dating back to his time as a USFL owner. During an interview with OutKick's Clay Travis while attending Alabama-Georgia, the 78-year-old politician called the league "great" but complained about its new "dynamic kickoff" rule.

"Well, I've always heard the impression 'big-time college football,' and you know, the NFL is great, but we have 125,000 people here today, you have Herschel [Walker] standing right behind us...big-time college football, some people want to watch that as opposed to the NFL," Trump said.

"I don't know what they're doing with the kickoff return in the NFL. And I don't want to get involved in controversy, of course, but it looks so bad. And I noticed that they haven't done that in college, and they shouldn't do it. And I think the NFL should go back. And maybe it is a little bit more dangerous, but I doubt that it's any more dangerous. It's football."

As the week plays out, we'll see if Trump's campaign officially confirms his plans to attend Jets-Steelers.

The game is scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET Sunday on NBC.
