Dick Vitale Announces His Latest Biopsy Showed Cancer

Legendary ESPN broadcaster Dick Vitale has been very open about his health over the years. With that said, he had unfortunate news to share with his peers this Friday. 

Vitale, 85, revealed that his latest biopsy showed that he has cancer in his lymph nodes. 

"My report on the Biopsy of the Lymph Node in my neck has arrived & it is cancerous," Vitale revealed on social media. "With all the prayers I have received & the loving support of my family, friends & @espn colleagues I will win this battle. [Praying] surgery on Tuesday will be a success. Thanks for All the prayers."

Vitale was still recovering from vocal cord cancer, which forced him to miss the entire 2023-24 college basketball season. Now, he'll have get through another obstacle. 

As you'd expect, sports fans are keeping Vitale in their thoughts and prayers. 

"We will continue to pray and you will continue to fight like you always do w support from so many," Kevin Negandhi said. "We love you!"

Jon Rothstein replied, "Prayers for Dickie V."

Another person said, "My prayers and best wishes go our to you and your loved ones, @DickieV. I know you will fight this and win. We are all rooting for you."

Vitale has been part of ESPN's team since 1979. His energy and analysis can only be matched by a few people in the industry. 

We're certainly hoping Vitale makes a full and speedy recovery.
