Detroit Lions Player Cut After Getting Arrested On Saturday

The Detroit Lions have decided to cut a player who got arrested on Saturday.
Detroit has been one of the best teams in the NFC this season. Dan Campbell's squad has not had the hangover year that many expected them to have, after losing to the 49ers in crushing fashion in the conference championship game last year. The Lions are an impressive 12-2 on the year, heading into Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears.
But while the Lions have thrived on the field, they had to deal with a frustrating issue off of it on Saturday. One of the team's players got arrested. He has since been released.
Brandon Joseph, a 23-year-old safety, was reportedly arrested for suspicion of driving a vehicle under the influence. He was reportedly pulled over for speeding early on Saturday morning. Joseph, an undrafted signing out of Northwestern and Notre Dame, was then taken into custody.
The Lions didn't wait long to make a decision.
Later on Saturday afternoon, the NFC North franchise decided to cut the undrafted free agent signing.
"Dearborn Heights police tell me Brandon Joseph, who was waived by the Lions this afternoon, was pulled over for speeding on Michigan Avenue and arrested for suspicion of operating under the influence. They stress he was completely compliant, detained and released," Dave Birkett reported.
Joseph, an All-American at college, had appeared in 14 games for the Lions, mostly as a reserve defender and special teams player. He'll hopefully learn his lesson this weekend, though.
The Lions and the Bears are scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. E.T. on Sunday afternoon. The Week 16 NFL game will be airing on FOX.
