Deion Sanders, Colorado Band Story Isn't True (1:28)

Deion Sanders is proving this season that he has what it takes to win college football games in a major conference. On Thursday, however, he reminded everyone that he's also a really good recruiter.

Five-star quarterback Julian Lewis announced that he's now committing to Colorado. He has been committed to USC since August 2023. There were rumors about him joining the Buffaloes, especially after he took a visit to Boulder. While on "The Pat McAfee Show" this afternoon, he explained why he flipped his commitment.

"Of course it was big for me, just coming in after Shedeur (Sanders), just seeing what he's done to Colorado and what he's turned it into," Lewis said. "It's definitely a blessing, getting put in this position, coming after him and his dad. I couldn't beat it."

Lewis is the No. 35 overall recruit and No. 6 quarterback from the 2025 class, per 247Sports' rankings

Now that Colorado has its quarterback of the future, there's a very good chance all the rumors linking Sanders to the NFL will disappear. People assumed he'd leave Boulder once Shedeur went to the pros.

Coach Prime has already stated this week that he loves the program's outlook for 2025 and beyond. That was before he even landed a commitment from Lewis.

"I'm happy, I'm excited. I'm enthusiastic about where I am. I love it here, truly do," Sanders said. "It says a lot about what we plan on being and the stability that we're going to be here for a while. We ain't going nowhere. We're about to get comfortable."

Lewis will have large shoes to fill at Colorado, make no mistake about it. That being said, he'll have the necessary support around him to develop into a playmaker.
