Deion Sanders, Colorado Band Story Isn't True (1:28)

Deion Sanders and his family continue to promote a negative news cycle by showcasing false reports on social media.

Colorado's head coach spent part of his Monday complaining about a fake report on social media. The Buffaloes head coach, two days removed from a 36-14 loss to BYU in the Alamo Bowl, took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to complain about the "idiots" who say he'll push his sons, Shedeur and Shilo, to certain NFL teams in the 2025 Draft.

"It will be multiple IDIOTS that will say things that totally aren't true regarding where I would like @ShedeurSanders & @ShiloSanders to play in the @nfl . If I say it I will say it directly to whom it may concern not a attention seeker. I do know @nflcommish personally! 🎤drop," he wrote.

"They've already started the lying and positioning but they forgot I got TIME TODAY."

The problem: Monday's "report" came from fake NFL insider Wesley Steinberg, who is known for creating fake posts to go viral.

"Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders has no interest in playing for #Browns or #Titans," he posted." This could have major NFL draft implications, Shedeur's father Deion Sanders will demand his son goes to a big market team with good infrastructure for a young QB."

Deion Sanders Jr. also responded to the report on X, posting a cap emoji, saying it was a lie.

Awful Announcing summed up how the Sanders family acts on social media, as this is not the first time that it's happened:

A similar situation played out two weeks ago when X account NFL Rookie Watch posted that Shedeur Sanders is "prepared" to be selected by the Las Vegas Raiders or Dallas Cowboys in the 2025 NFL Draft and that there is a "high likelihood" he would refuse to play for the Cleveland Browns.

Again, Deion Sanders, Jr. quoted the post, saying "Bro is lying." Again, Deion Sanders, Sr. reacted as well, calling it out as a lie. Again, the account, which has a long history of making up quotes, got a ton of engagement and reach thanks to their sharing.

If there's one thing the Sanders family is good at, it's drawing attention to themselves. Coach Prime and his family have been doing it since he arrived in the college football head coaching landscape.

There's no such thing as a bad headline as far as they are concerned, it seems.
