Former race car driver Danica Patrick became an outspoken political commentator in the months leading up to this year's presidential election, voicing her support for Republican nominee and eventual President-elect Donald Trump.

Patrick traveled to rallies around the country over the last few months, giving speeches and interviews about her political views and urging others to exercise their right to vote.

Her efforts proved to be successful as Trump was elected President for the second time, and Patrick says that her work came at no cost to the Trump campaign.

On X, Patrick replied to a post from another user who alleged that the Kamala Harris campaign paid $5 million for a performance from Megan Thee Stallion at a rally.

"All the events, rally's, interviews, social posts….. I did for free. Actually spent a fair amount on wardrobe," said the former driver

"But to be fair, I can't twerk so…. It all adds up."

Patrick, who voted for the first time in the 2024 election, said that her journey in and around the Trump campaign has been "quite a ride."

"It's really been this process that's very natural," Patrick said of her involvement and interest in politics, speaking at a "Team Trump's Women's Tour" in Arizona ahead of the election.

Patrick's attachment to Trump and to the campaign comes as many current and former athletes have supported the President-elect.

Brett Favre, Harrison Butker, Herschel Walker, Caitlyn Jenner and Nick Bosa are among the athletes to emerge as Trump supporters, joining other big names in the sports world like Dana White, Tommy Tuberville and Antonio Brown.

"I made a rule for myself that if I didn't vote I could not have an opinion about the outcome, because I didn't earn that right," Patrick said in a social media post following her decision to cast a vote.

"Not this time. I voted for Donald Trump and I can't wait to have him make America great again!"

Patrick called her vote for the President-elect "the vote of reason," saying that Trump was the "rational, reasonable choice."

We'll see if Patrick's political involvement increases after Trump is inaugurated in January.
