Dale Earnhardt Jr. Makes 'Sad' Admission About His Future

Meet The Wives And Girlfriends Of NASCAR'S Top Drivers (1:16)

Dale Earnhardt Jr. is retired from full-time NASCAR Cup Series racing, but the legendary driver will still get out on the track from time to time.

However, it sounds like that is going to stop soon.

The son of the legendary Dale Earnhardt Sr. is set to race in the Xfinity Series later this month. The 49-year-old NASCAR legend admitted that this could be his final race.

"Probably… but I'll keep running my late model for a little while," Dale Jr. admitted.

Dale Jr. essentially admitted that he'll probably stop racing because he doesn't think that NASCAR fans really care about seeing him out on the track.

Outkick's Zach Dean is not happy.

"Hey, NASCAR fans … this is unacceptable. If I read this correctly, Dale basically just told you he's hanging it up because nobody gives a s--- about him racing anymore," he wrote.

"Nope. Not on my watch. Dale Earnhardt Jr. races a week from Friday, at Bristol, in the No. 88 Chevy. Get your a---- to a TV and watch it. Watch every single second of it. Don't let Junior go out like a loser. We're better than this."

Hopefully, Dale Jr. will get the reception he deserves and, maybe, it'll inspire him to keep racing from time to time.

Do it right, NASCAR fans.
