Cowboys Make Big Interview Request Amid Deion Sanders Rumors

Deion Sanders is undoubtedly the biggest name linked to the Dallas Cowboys' head coaching vacancy, but he's not the only familiar name in the running for the job.
Earlier this week, NFL Network's Jane Slater said that Jerry Jones is on a "solo mission" to find the next head coach of the Cowboys. At that time, she floated out Kellen Moore, Steve Sarkisian and Kliff Kingsbury as possible candidates. Well, it appears at least one of those coaches will have a chance to interview with "America's Team."
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Cowboys have requested permission to speak with Moore. He's currently in his first year as the offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Moore, a former All-American quarterback, knows how Dallas operates. His first coaching opportunity came with the Cowboys in 2018. He was their quarterbacks coach before being promoted to offensive coordinator. The Boise State legend held that tile from 2019-2022.
After parting ways with the Cowboys in January 2023, Moore joined the Los Angeles Chargers as their offensive coordinator. Since he wasn't retained by Jim Harbaugh, that opened the door for him to join the Eagles.
In their first season with Moore calling the plays on offense, the Eagles averaged 27.2 points per game. His rushing attack has been tough to stop thanks to the dynamic duo of Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts.
Moore was actually asked about the Cowboys potentially showing interest in him. Let's just say he didn't completely shut down the rumors.
"I spent a lot of time there, eight years there. So [I] have plenty of relationships in that place," Moore said. "I love it here. I've had so much fun here. It's been a really fun process, and we're in a really special situation right now, getting the chance to play this Sunday, having a chance to make a run at this thing, and that's really all you worry about."
While it sounds like Moore is open to speaking with the Cowboys, he's mainly focused on leading the Eagles to the NFC Championship Game.
Moore isn't the only coach on the Cowboys' radar. They're expected to interview with former New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh and former Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier.
Of course, most of the attention will be on Deion Sanders. If he's seriously interested in leaving Colorado, he'll probably be one of, if not the favorite for the job in Dallas.
