Meet The Wife Of Ohio State Coach Ryan Day (1:51)

Georgia fans suffered unfortunate flashbacks during Friday night's Cotton Bowl between Ohio State and Texas.

During the Sugar Bowl last Thursday, the referees penalized Georgia sophomore Parker Jones for sideline interference. It was a costly penalty that truly derailed his team's momentum. Fast forward to Friday night, and Ohio State head coach Ryan Day was caught running on the actual field while Jack Sawyer returned a fumble 83 yards to the house.

Day didn't collide with any referees like Jones did in the Sugar Bowl, but he was on the field of play. For that reason alone, fans believe he should've been penalized. The officiating crew for the Cotton Bowl, however, thought otherwise.

Once a screenshot of Day on the field surfaced on social media, fans unleashed their thoughts on college football's inconsistent officiating.

"The CFP and the Refs are paid off by Ohio State," one fan claimed

"The Parker Jones stuff his hilarious when you see stuff like this. Had to be one of the worst penalties I've seen in a while. Ref was just in his feelings," a second fan wrote.

Another person said, "Ryan Day is literally on the field in this picture."

"Parker Jones you are clear. You didn't do anything wrong. [Expletive] that ref that got his feeling hurt. This wasn't even a [Expletive] WARNING!!!!! RYAN DAY IS ON THE FIELD DURING A PLAY AND NO WARNING OR NOTHING. I hate inconsistent penalties," a social media user yelled.

Ohio State would've maintained possession even if Day was penalized on this play. It would've wiped Sawyer's touchdown off the board though.

At the end of the day, the officials probably made the right decision letting this one slide. As for the Parker Jones incident, that one remains a debate in the college football community.

Do you think the Cotton Bowl refs messed up in this situation?
