Colorado Star Travis Hunter Reveals How Far He Can Throw A Football

Colorado's Travis Hunter is the front-runner for the Heisman trophy this season. He's earned that spot by excelling in two positions on both sides of the ball, showcasing his elite ability as a wide receiver and a defensive back.
Hunter is still looking to determine which position he'll play at the next level, but on Thursday he wanted to make sure that teams knew he also had another impressive ability up his sleeve.
While speaking to CBS Sports college football reporter Brandon Marcello, Hunter explained that he can also play quarterback if needed.
According to Marcello, Hunter said that he could throw the ball 70 yards, but that he didn't want to take any snaps away from teammate Shedeur Sanders.
Hunter mentioned Sanders as a potential candidate, but the race appears to be down to two players for the remainder of the season.
Hunter is the front-runner with his two-way ability and seemingly endless stamina, but Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty has put up video-game numbers in his own right.
Other Heisman candidates include quarterbacks Dillon Gabriel (Oregon) and Cam Ward (Miami).
If Hunter wins the Heisman, he would be the first two-way player to do so since Michigan's Charles Woodson. Woodson is the only defensive player in history to win the award, which has typically been dominated by quarterbacks and running backs.
Quarterbacks have won seven of the last eight Heisman trophies, with DeVonta Smith breaking things up in 2020. If Jeanty were to win, he would be the first running back to do so since the great Derrick Henry, who took home the award in 2015.
Hunter and the Buffaloes are looking to end the season on a strong note after their 8-2 start. They're currently the top team in the Big 12, and could find their way into the College Football Playoff if they're able to win out.
Games against Kansas and Oklahoma State - both under .500 - remain in the regular season, and a date with another top team from the Big 12 championship game is likely if they end the year at 10-2.
We'll see how the season ends for Colorado, but it's clear that Hunter is among the best pure athletes in all of college football, Heisman trophy or not.
