A rare College Football Playoff game on a Friday has offered ESPN a chance at an even rarer College GameDay on a weekday to boot. With GameDay in South Bend, Indiana for the big Notre Dame-Indiana game, ESPN needs a big guest picker and they got one.
On Friday morning, College GameDay announced that comedian and actor Shane Gillis will be joining the panel of pundits to discuss the College Football Playoff. Gillis has released several well-received comedy specials and is the creator of the hit Netflix comedy series Tires. More importantly, he knows football, having played a year of it at Elon University before graduating from West Chester University.
"This is going to be fun 🤩 Can't wait to have @Shanemgillis as today's guest picker! College GameDay begins at 3:30 PM ET on ESPN," College GameDay posted on X.

Naturally there were people who were a bit confused by the pick, voicing some doubts at a guest who isn't directly related to football today.
"He'll bring the funny, but does he know football?" one user wondered.
"So we get @Shanemgillis and @PatMcAfeeShow in the same place at the same time! The WORLD ain't ready for this!" another wrote.
"Comedian and avid Notre Dame fan Shane Gillis will be the guest picker this afternoon," wrote a third.
But for the most part fans had just one demand of Gillis: Be as good as GameDay's last big guest, Timothee Chalamet:
"Gillis you know what you have to do… Be better than Chalamet," one user declared.
"Cute but it should be Ball Atreides every time," wrote another.
"Give us Timothée Chalamet you cowards!" a third demanded.
Notre Dame are the home favorites with sports books giving them a 7-point edge over the visiting Indiana Hoosiers. But while Notre Dame has more impressive regular season wins than Indiana does, the Fighting Irish also have the more embarrassing loss by far with their September defeat against Northern Illinois.
College GameDay begins at 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. The Notre Dame-Indiana game will start at 8 p.m. on ESPN.
