The College Football Playoff at the Peach Bowl has announced its decision on Texas' live mascot, Bevo, heading into the game on New Year's Day.
Texas, the No. 5 seed, is set to take on No. 4 seed Arizona State in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals. The Longhorns are coming off a win over No. 12 seed Clemson on Saturday. Texas will be playing Arizona State for a spot in the College Football Playoff semifinals on New Year's Day.
But, unfortunately, Texas will be without its live mascot, Bevo, against the Sun Devils.
The Peach Bowl announced its decision on Monday afternoon.
The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl announced the decision on Monday afternoon.
"We love all of the great traditions of college football and no doubt, Bevo is one of the best, but the unfortunate reality is there is simply not enough room on the sidelines of Mercedes-Benz Stadium," the bowl game announced.
"With the constraints of the stadium and prioritizing the safety of Bevo, the players, all of the network cameras, support staff, cheerleaders, and photographers, we unfortunately will not be able to have Bevo on the field at the CFP Quarterfinal at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl."

College football fans are disappointed.
"But of course UGA gets princess treatment!!! What a JOKE!!!?" one fan wrote.
"I love that Texas fans think not making room for a 2000 lb cow and risking the safety of patrons is the unreasonable side of this argument," one fan added.
"My 28 year old son is crying now because of this. I just smashed my TV in front of my guests for the holidays and everyone is mad at me now. This is all your fault," one fan added.
"Last time Bevo was banned, Texas lost the game," one fan added.
"I'm sure this will go over well with Texas faithful," one fan added.
Texas and Arizona State are set to kick off at 1 p.m. E.T. on Wednesday, January 1. The College Football Playoff quarterfinal game will be airing on ESPN.
