College Football Head Coach Reveals Unfortunate Eggnog Allergy

The Top 25 College Football Programs Of All Time (1:17)

College football bowl season is known for its quirks, including winning coaches having various liquids poured on them in postgame celebrations.

This year's Holiday Bowl between Syracuse and Washington State is set for Friday night in San Diego. The winning coach will get doused in an eggnog shower, keeping in line with the Christmas spirit. However, if Syracuse wins, head coach Fran Brown has already said he won't be partaking.

On Thursday, Brown told reporters he can't participate in the eggnog bath because he has an egg allergy. Whether this is true or if he just wanted an excuse not to potentially get covered in eggnog is unknown, but either way, don't look for Brown to get coated in the sweet drink if the Orange get the W.

Brown said that tight end Dan Villari, a redshirt junior in his second season at SU after transferring from Michigan, will be his stand-in for the eggnog if needed.

In his first season at Syracuse, Brown led the Orange to a 9-3 regular season mark. A win over Washington State would secure Syracuse's first 10-win campaign since 2018 and just their second in the last 23 seasons.

"We all just wanted to go out and get this 10th win and we want to end it out on a great note," 'Cuse linebacker Marlowe Wax said. "And for me personally, being here, this is my third straight bowl game, I haven't won a bowl game yet, so I'm definitely trying to get that win."

Syracuse-Washington State is one of five games in a loaded Friday bowl slate. The Orange and Cougars will kick off at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.

Other games tomorrow included Oklahoma-Navy in the Armed Forces Bowl, Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt in the Birmingham Bowl, Texas Tech vs. Arkansas in the Liberty Bowl and USC-Texas A&M in the nightcap in the Las Vegas Bowl.
