ESPN's computer model, the Football Power Index, released new Top 25 rankings on Sunday morning. And, unsurprisingly, they are pretty controversial.

Week 13 of the 2024 college football season was an eventful one. Ohio State blew out undefeated Indiana at home, Colorado was upset by Kansas, Alabama got crushed by Oklahoma, Ole Miss fell to Florida, Nebraska beat Wisconsin to get bowl eligibility for the first time since 2016, and a lot more.

Following Week 13, ESPN's computer model, the Football Power Index, has released its new rankings.

  1. Texas
  2. Ohio State
  3. Notre Dame
  4. Alabama
  5. Georgia
  6. Ole Miss
  7. Oregon
  8. Tennessee
  9. Penn State
  10. Miami
  11. Indiana

Alabama, despite losing for the third time this season, comes in at No. 4 in the rankings. How is that possible?

College football fans are not happy with ESPN's Football Power Index rankings.

"And Alabama's SOS on ESPN FPI magically went up from #16 to #11 after playing OU. The model must be stuck in the Baker Mayfield era," one fan wrote.

"This chart is a joke right?" one fan added.

"Computer might want to sit this one out," one fan added.

"Alabama doesn't belong in the top 15 and I like them," one fan added.

"I don't think the FPI watched very many football games this weekend/year," one fan added.

"Did the computer actually get Saturday's results? Bama, Ole Miss come on," one fan added.

The official Coaches' Poll top 25 and AP Poll top 25 will be out later on Sunday afternoon.

And, the only rankings that matter, the College Football Playoff selection committee's top 25, will come out on Tuesday evening, live on ESPN.

Hopefully, those rankings are not nearly as controversial as the ones put out by ESPN's Football Power Index on Sunday morning.
