Meet The Daughter Of Colin Cowherd (1:02)

For most of the year Fox Sports' Colin Cowherd has defended the Kansas City Chiefs for continuing to win in the closest of games, considering their success in tight games to be a by-product of great coaching. But amid a slew of terrible penalties that have benefitted the Chiefs against the Houston Texans today, even he can't let the league slide for their apparent favoritism today.

There were two separate occasions where the referees flew some pretty egregious flags that directly benefitted the Chiefs and specifically quarterback Patrick Mahomes. There was the roughing the passer penalty in the first quarter that extended a drive and led to three points for the Chiefs, and an unnecessary roughness penalty on the Chiefs' first drive of the second half that extended a drive into a touchdown.

That's two huge plays that can be credited for contributed as many as 10 points to the Chiefs in what has been a low-scoring affair.

After the second one, Cowherd couldn't contain himself anymore. Taking to X, he called out the NFL for being "overly protective" of Mahomes in a way that's plain for all to see.

"Two lousy calls — both overly protective of Mahomes. Bad look and nobody in KC can deny that," Cowherd wrote.

NFL fans in the comments felt pretty vindicated by Cowherd's statement, arguing that there likely is some sort of bias benefitting the Chiefs coming from the NFL.

"Maybe there is something to the whole conspiracy that the Chiefs get all the calls from the refs," one user replied.

"Can we just declare them the SB champs already and move on?" another wrote.

"The refs are back at it for KC. That was in no way roughing the passer. Is it really that important to get Taylor Swift to the Super Bowl?" a third wondered.

Whether it's a result of league bias towards the Chiefs in particular, or just a result of this particular group of officials being overprotective of quarterbacks, the end result is a product on the field that is getting a bit frustrating for fans.

The game is being played on ESPN. Kansas City lead 23-12 with two minutes remaining in the game.
