Chiefs Announce Patrick Mahomes' Practice Status For Tuesday

When Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes left Sunday's win over the Cleveland Browns with a nasty-looking leg injury that he could barely walk off, fans were understandably concerned that he would miss time - maybe a lot of it. But the first practice report of the week suggests that the severity may be overblown.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Mahomes was listed as a full participant in practice on Tuesday. Kansas City play against the Houston Texans this coming Saturday, so they have to start early this week.
"#Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes was listed as a full participant today, and so was WR Hollywood Brown. A sign both could at least, potentially, play on Saturday," Rapoport wrote.

A sign both could at least, potentially, play on Saturday.
The fact that Mahomes is already a full participant in practice in spite of a leg injury bodes very well. Even if he isn't at full strength by Saturday, it suggests that he may be good to go on the Chiefs' Christmas Day game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Fans are praising Mahomes for his toughness though some are wondering if he may have faked his injury by making it look so severe earlier this week:
"Also, there's no way Mahomes' ankle is as bad as two years ago. Now watch opposing fan bases claim he faked it. If you believe that, what's your reasoning? He came out of the game and never went back in," one user wrote in response to Rapoport.
"Of course he was. Gotta milk that injury out for some attention," another wrote.
"Yearly fake Mahomes injury so he can *try* to have his Flu game," wrote a third.
2024 has been one of Mahomes' least productive seasons on a number of fronts. He's averaging the lowest yards per game of his career and is taking sacks at the highest rate of his career.
But the Chiefs are now sitting pretty in the AFC with a 13-1 record in spite of his dip in production. Mahomes leads the NFL with five fourth-quarter comebacks and seven game-winning drives this season. They've only outscored their 14 opponents by a grand total of 70 points.
Will the Chiefs continue to win?
