Chiefs Airplane 'Stranded' In Kansas City Before Week 18 Road Game

The Kansas City Chiefs are already rare underdogs heading into tomorrow's road game against the rival Denver Broncos. But now it seems like they'll be lucky to even reach Denver by kickoff.
On Saturday, the Kansas City International Airport announced that "rapid ice accumulation" has forced the airfield to close its flight operations.
"Saturday 2:50pm Update - Due to rapid ice accumulation, the airfield at Kansas City International Airport (MCI) is currently closed to flight operations. Check with your airline for specific flight information. Additional status updates to follow," the @Fly_KansasCity account X posted.
Unfortunately for the Chiefs, they weren't able to get their plane off the ground in time to escape the ice. CBS Sports reporter Tracy Wolfson reported a short while ago that the Chiefs plane is now stranded at the airport and unable to leave. The team was scheduled to arrive at the airport at 3 p.m. local time - a mere 10 minutes after the closure announcement was made.
"Due to the airport being closed, Chiefs plane stranded as of now. They were set to arrive at 3. #Chiefs," Wolfson reported.

Fans in the comments are baffled that the Chiefs didn't plan better given that the weather report wasn't exactly positive heading into Saturday:
"For the last week, the news in KC has been reporting that it would start icing today so not sure how they didn't plan this better," one user replied to Wolfson.
"This storm has been forecasted for like ten days. Poor planning," wrote another.
"I get that they're playing for absolutely nothing, but I don't get how that even happens lol," a third wrote.
But many have also noted that the Week 18 game against the Broncos is largely meaningless for the Chiefs. They've already decided to rest starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes, tight end Travis Kelce and a slew of other starters to avoid injuries ahead of their first-round bye in the playoffs.
If anything, the Chiefs probably wouldn't care too much if they didn't have to play the game at all.
That said, the NFL isn't going to allow the Chiefs to merely forfeit the game. Even if the Chiefs don't make it to Denver in a reasonable amount of time, they might just reschedule it.
Will the game go on as planned?
