Charles Barkley's Schedule Proposal For NBA Sparks Heated Debate

Each NBA season starts in October but Charles Barkley wants the NBA to consider starting the season a bit later in the year.
He thinks the league should consider starting the season on Christmas Day (December 25) because he thinks the league is wasting time going up against the NFL and college football before then.
"The best ratings we've ever had was the year we went on strike and started on Christmas. I think we need to seriously consider starting at Christmas because you are wasting your time going up against the NFL and college football. They own the weekends now," Barkley said.
He makes some solid points but NBA fans are still mixed on his opinion.
"NBA starting on Christmas and ending right before football starts would be perfect," one tweet read.
"Not gonna lie, last 5 years has he said anything positive about the sport he has played/watches/comments on?" another tweet read.
"Been said this…start on Christmas and dominate the summer where only baseball is on," another fan tweeted.
"That would be (fire) but owners not going for it. The extra millions they make from Oct-Dec pays their taxes. They can care less about better ratings," another tweet read.
"Agree but big problem with this is that if the Finals are in August, every four years you're running up against the Olympics. Even a July Finals would make it difficult I also imagine the TV providers (namely NBC) wouldn't want the playoffs going H2H with the Olympics either," another tweet read.
"Just stop," another fan tweeted.
While the season would start later, it would also end in late July or early August. Some owners and players may not go for it since it would be pretty late to end a season.
It may be a long time before the NBA even considers that idea.
