Chargers Rule Out Key Player For Saturday's Patriots Game

The Los Angeles Chargers will be without one of their running backs for Saturday's game against the New England Patriots.
Running back Gus Edwards will not play due to an ankle injury. He's been out of practice these last two days.
Edwards is in his first season with the Chargers and has been productive, compiling 101 carries for 365 yards and four touchdowns. He spent the previous five seasons with the Baltimore Ravens before joining the Chargers.
Even though Edwards won't play, there's a chance that the Chargers get fellow running back J.K. Dobbins back since he's been out for the last four games. Dobbins has been listed as questionable and has worked in practice throughout this week.
He's been out for the last four games due to a knee injury and is eligible to come off injured reserve for this game. Getting him back would be a big deal for the Chargers since they're pushing for a wild-card spot in the NFL playoffs.
Dobbins has compiled 158 carries for 766 yards and eight touchdowns in his first season with the Chargers. He and Edwards came over from the Ravens and when they are healthy, they form a deadly 1-2 punch at running back.
If both are healthy for the playoffs, they'll be a tough out for whoever they go up against. They also have a quarterback in Justin Herbert who is playing at a high level right now.
Herbert is completing 64.7% of his passes for 3,243 yards through the air with 18 touchdowns and only three interceptions.
If the Chargers can beat the Patriots on Saturday, they'll clinch a playoff spot. Kickoff will be at 1 p.m. ET on NFL Network.
Chris Rose and Ross Tucker will have the call.
