You know things are bad when CBS decided to stop airing a game involving the Kansas City Chiefs, who are typically a TV ratings juggernaut.
But that's what's happening on Sunday. The Chiefs are taking on the Broncos at Empower Field at Mile High Stadium in Denver. Kansas City is playing without starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes, star tight end Travis Kelce and others. Still, you would think that Kansas City's backups could put up a decent fight. Spoiler alert: they have not.
Denver is throttling Kansas City, 31-0, on Sunday afternoon. The game has gotten so bad that CBS has decided to stop televising it on Sunday afternoon.
Midway through the second half, CBS announced that it would be switching from the Chiefs at Broncos game to the Chargers at Raiders game.
NFL fans were quick to react.
"The Broncos are beating the Chiefs so bad that CBS just announced they were switching to a "more competitive game" and started playing the Chargers/Raiders instead. Never seen that happen before," one fan wrote.
"You know it's bad when the network switches to "a more competitive game". CBS just traded coverage of the Chiefs-Broncos game in Cincinnati, to the Raiders-Chargers game," one fan added.
"Damn it's such a blowout cbs is switching games and going away from the chiefs game," one fan added.
"The Broncos 31-0 lead on KC has become so bad, CBS changed which game they are covering with the entire 4th quarter to play. As bad as the Dolphins have played today, it doesn't matter - but it is frustrating that the Chiefs can just throw a game like this," one fan added.
"Hey CBS! I was enjoying watching the Broncos stomp out the Chiefs. I should have had another quarter of enjoyment yet you switch to Chargers/Raiders... gross," one fan added.
TV networks have stuck with the Chiefs through a lot of blowouts over the years, but typically, it's Kansas City that is doing the blowing out.
This time, the Chiefs were on the receiving end of a blowout loss, and CBS had seen enough.
