It's been nearly a week since Tyreek Hill was pulled over and detained during a traffic stop in Miami and the footage of the incident is still being analyzed and scrutinized.

Former MVP quarterback Cam Newton finally took a look at the footage and broke down what happened on his show, 4th And 1

The immediate takeaway that Newton had - much to the surprise of many NFL fans - was to admonish Hill for rolling his windows back up after the police officer started talking to him. He pointed out that it was a dangerous move that could have gotten him into danger.

"When you roll the window down and roll the window back up, bro you can't do that! Don't do that! It puts you in danger," he said.

In fairness, it did. Newton made it clear that he wasn't taking the officer's side and stated clearly that the officer was excessive, but added that Hill could have done more to protect himself from things escalating further.

"This could've been avoided… The reason why the officers are frustrated is because you rolled your window up. He (the officer) was excessive. I'm not taking the officer's side. I'm just saying how this situation could have played out different. There's accountability on both sides," he added.

Newton's conclusion was that the incident is something that African-Americans go through all the time and what happened probably wouldn't be getting nearly as much attention if it didn't happen to someone as high-profile as the Miami Dolphins wide receiver.

Fans couldn't help but agree with his take, pointing out that it's an unfortunate reality that many of them have had to deal with.

"I'm glad Cam said it for me because I completely agree! I know all the time simply complying is everything but in this scenario he could avoided so much," one user replied.

"Cam right…was it excessive, yea, could it have been better actions on both sides, yea," wrote another.

"Accurate," a third wrote. "Comply so you can avoid the confrontation. Not every cop is like this but there's no way of telling."
