Caitlin Clark decided to attend college in her home state of Iowa for the Hawkeyes, where she's had a legendary career and will go down as one of the greatest college basketball players of all time.

Clark will forever by synonymous with Iowa basketball, raising the program to a national power in an era dominated by stacked teams of multiple five-star recruits and legendary head coaches.

Iowa will forever be her home, but she nearly played college basketball in another Midwestern state for a completely different school.

In an interview with ESPN's Wright Thompson, Clark admitted that she originally committed to Notre Dame.

Clark said that she was set on heading to South Bend, Indiana before she had a chance to talk to Iowa women's basketball coach Lisa Bluder.

Bluder convinced Clark to change her mind and head to Iowa, and the rest is literal women's basketball history.

"My family wanted me to go to Notre Dame," Clark said, as she noted how she grew up in a Catholic household.

"At the end of the day they were like, you make the decision for yourself. But it's NOTRE DAME! 'Rudy' was one of my favorite movies. How could you not pick Notre Dame?"

Clark said that she stood by her decision to pick Notre Dame even though she didn't fall in love with it when she visited the campus as a high schooler.

Clark is now entering the final chapter of her illustrious college career.

She will compete in the NCAA Tournament with her Iowa teammates as the Hawkeyes look to win their first national championship in program history.

Thousands of Hawkeye fans are happy that Clark changed her mind before heading to South Bend to play for Niele Ivey and the Irish.
