Caitlin Clark Makes Impressive Women's Sports Card History

Caitlin Clark has been setting records throughout her basketball career, from high school to college to the WNBA.
Clark has broken standards on the court, at the box office and in television ratings. Another area she is setting the pace is memorabilia, more specifically trading cards. On Saturday night, a one-of-a-kind autographed Caitlin Clark rookie card became the highest-selling card in the history of women's sports, going for $366,000 at an auction by Goldin.

"This ultra-premium showpiece is bestowed with a single-copy print run, superb blue ink signature, and dazzling Gold Vinyl Prizm visual effect, making it one of Clark's finest inaugural season showpieces from Panini's flagship WNBA brand."
Clark's previous personal-high for a card sale was $234,850. Tennis legend Serena Williams had the most expensive card sale in women's sports history at $266,400 before Clark eclipsed that mark.
"Why did this specific Clark card sell for so much? Panini's Prizm set is the exclusive WNBA trading card license holder's most popular, so the rarest Clark autograph rookie card in that set was all but certain to become her most valuable one once it was pulled from a pack and put up for sale," Brooks Peck of The Athletic wrote.
Three of Clark's highest-selling cards have eclipsed six figures, with two others topping $97,000 at sale.
As the Indiana Fever star continues to soar to new heights in her career, we'd also expect her trading cards to keep doing numbers at auction.
Clark's second WNBA season will get underway on May 17 against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky.
