Basketball fans longing to watch Caitlin Clark play are just going to have to wait until the 2025 WNBA season.
For weeks now, there has been a "Will she or won't she?" conversation going on regarding Clark and Unrivaled, the new women's 3-on-3 league that begins play this winter. Clark had been mum about her intentions regarding the fledgling circuit, but has now apparently made a decision.
According to ESPN's Michael Voepel, Clark will not play in the inaugural Unrivaled season. The league has already unveiled 34 of the 36 players who will compete this year, with two more wild card spots still to be announced, neither of which will go to Clark.
Unrivaled will play an eight-week regular season, starting Jan. 17. All games will be played in Miami. The league's semifinals will take place on Sunday, March 16, with the final to be played Monday, March 17.
Some of the biggest names in the WNBA will take part, but Clark will instead focus on training for next season and activities away from the court in the coming months.
"Besides the actual basketball skill part of it, I think getting stronger, that's what I'm focusing on," Clark said of her goals this offseason. "I'm in the weight room a lot, just building that strength."
"I'm always wanting to get better, and that's kind of what drives me," she added. "I love getting to do it, and I'm very fortunate that it's my job."
The 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year, Clark led the league in assists and three-pointers made in her first season, averaging 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 8.4 assists per game while leading the Indiana Fever to the playoffs for the first time since 2016.
Recently, the former Iowa star showed off some of her golf game as well, playing alongside LPGA star Nelly Korda and legendary golfer Annika Sorenstam at the latter's pro-am event in Florida.
