Caitlin Clark Can Break 2 More Records In Tonight's WNBA Regular Season Finale

It's been a dream season for Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. The team has clinched its first playoff appearance since 2016, and they're set to end the regular season on Thursday night against the Washington Mystics.
Clark has set several records in her rookie season, including the single-season assist record and the rookie three-point record. On Thursday, the favorite for Rookie of the Year has the chance to add two more impressive marks to her resume.
If Clark makes nine threes on Thursday, she would break the WNBA single-game record and the record for threes made in a season. The first mark is held by all-time great Diana Taurasi, who once hit eight threes in a single game.

The second mark is held by a fellow All-Star and 2024 Olympic gold medalist Sabrina Ionescu. The New York Liberty star made 128 three pointers last season to break Taurasi's previous record of 121, set in 2006.
Clark has come close to the single-game record, hitting seven threes against the Mystics back in June.
The projected Rookie of the Year's biggest obstacle to hitting both of these marks on Thursday may be playing time. With the Fever already having their playoff spot determined and confirmed, they could sit some of their starters to avoid injuries before the playoffs.
The Mystics are still looking to make the playoffs, and as things stand they'll need some help to get there. The Mystics need to win, and they also need the Atlanta Dream to lose to the top-seeded New York Liberty in order to capture the No. 8 seed.
If the Dream beat the Liberty, they will be the No. 8 seed regardless of what happens in the Fever-Mystics game.
The Chicago Sky can also still make the playoffs as the No. 8 seed if they beat the Connecticut Sun, but they would need both Washington and Atlanta to lose.
Playoff positioning and seeding is on the line in the WNBA's final game tonight, and a few records are within reach for the league's best first-year player in her regular-season finale.
