Bruce Pearl Taking Heat For 'Classless' Comment During ESPN Interview

Auburn's victory over Ole Miss this Friday was quickly overshadowed by Bruce Pearl's postgame interview with ESPN.
Despite entering the SEC Tournament on a two-game losing streak, Auburn shook off the rust and defeated Ole Miss by a final score of 62-57. Star forward Johni Broome continued his sensational season with 23 points and 15 rebounds. He scored the dagger for his team in the final 30 seconds of the game.
Pearl obviously had good things to say about Broome during his postgame interview on ESPN. However, it was a comment he made about his guards that really caught everyone's attention.
"I got bigs that can get out there and guard guards, and my guards aren't [expletives]," Pearl said. "They're going to go down there and bang."
After ESPN's Jay Williams and Seth Greenberg laughed at his comment, Pearl said, "Disney isn't writing my check right now, Auburn is."

While there were plenty of fans who loved Pearl's comment, others found it to be classless.
"I know we are reverting to a hyper masculine world where adults call each other the P or R words, but it's still utterly classless and a character flaw," one fan wrote on X.
Another fan said, "He is so gross sorry, not sorry."
"I'll make this prediction right now…a key player for Auburn will go down with a season ending injury & will cost them a title. What goes around, comes around." a third fan tweeted.
It's unclear if Auburn will discipline Pearl for his remark this Friday.
As for ESPN, it may want to consider having a "bleep button" on standby next time Pearl shows up for an interview.
Auburn will be back in action on Saturday for the semifinals of the SEC Tournament.
