Meet Deshaun Watson's Longtime Girlfriend (1:01)

The Cleveland Browns finished the 2024 NFL season tied for the worst record in the league at 3-14 and that was due in no small part to quarterback Deshaun Watson continuing to look like one of the worst acquisitions by a team in league history.

Watson went just 1-6 in 2024, throwing for five touchdowns and three interceptions before being ruled out for the year in late-October. Things went from bad to worse as the team announced at the end of the season that a setback in his recovery may cost him most of the offseason too.

So it may not be much of a shock that at least some members of the team believe it's time to move on from the former NFL passing leader.

In an impromptu interview with TMZ Sports, Browns Pro Bowl cornerback Denzel Ward was asked what the Browns need to do to improve in 2025 and beyond. Ward immediately said that the team needs to "solidify" the quarterback position, stating that the Browns "need a great quarterback" to have any success.

"I think we need a great quarterback for real," Ward said. "I think (in the) NFL, that's what it starts with, that quarterback position. Once you get that solidified then the rest of the team (is going to) follow and go carry along. I don't think we are too far off; we need to solidify that position."

That statement certainly won't do Ward's relationship with Watson any good, and could certainly cause a little bit of hand-wringing among the Browns brass (who currently have a lot on their plate with the city of Cleveland).

But what else could Ward really say?

The proof is in the pudding: The Browns scored the fewest points in the league, averaging just over 15 points per game and threw more interceptions than any other team, contributing in no small way to their defense being abysmal in 2024.

The good news is the Browns secured the No. 2 overall pick in the draft, which puts them in a position to either draft a top quarterback prospect, or the top player available.

Things aren't looking good for Watson's future with the team though.
