Bill Belichick Seems To Be Locked In On NFL Coaching Job

Former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has not yet announced if he'll return to the NFL for the 2025 season. If he does though, there's one job that has to be at the top of his wish list. 

Belichick, 72, parted ways with the Patriots following the 2023 season. Although he led the franchise to six Super Bowl victories, things didn't end on great terms, and as a result, people think he has a vendetta against New England. While that hasn't been confirmed, there's rumblings that he could return to the AFC in the fall of 2025. 

According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, there's chatter around the league that Belichick could become the next head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars. 

"Let's get into this because there's a lot of chatter about Bill Belichick taking that job," Russini said. "I can tell you that Belichick certainly has his eye on this Jacksonville opening. This is an organization that has tons of respect for Belichick. They've got a good relationship already." 

The Jaguars are expected to fire Doug Pederson at some point in the next two months. Heck, some fans thought he'd get fired after last weekend's blowout loss to the Detroit Lions.

"Before the season started, team owner Shad Khan said, 'This is the best team the Jaguars have ever assembled. Let's prove it by winning now.' So here we are — 2-9, worst loss today in franchise history. Bye week coming up. Doug Pederson was asked after the game about the possibility of being fired. He said, 'If it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen.' And it could happen soon," Mike Florio said.

It's important to note that Jaguars general manager Trent Baalke has history working with Belichick. He was a scout for the New York Jets when Belichick was the team's assistant head coach. 

If Baalke sticks around for the 2025 season, the Jaguars might just be the favorites to land Belichick.
